Major Breakthrough in Mira-Bhayandar: Key Meeting on Land Maps Records Offices, RTE Committee, and Deemed Conveyance Issues

MLA Narendra Mehta Pledges Seperate Meetings and Swift Resolution to Long-Pending Civic Concerns

Mira-Bhayandar, February 2025: In a significant move aimed at addressing crucial civic issues, representatives from Awaaz News Network, Star Foundation, and Lok Sahitya Welfare Trust met with Hon. MLA Narendra Mehta to discuss the establishment of a Land Maps Records Office, the formation of an RTE Verification Committee, and solutions for stalled redevelopment projects due to delays in conveyance.

During the meeting, Mehta was lauded for his efforts in simplifying the Urban Land Ceiling (ULC) clearance process, which has allowed Mira-Bhayandar residents to obtain clearances locally without the need to travel to Thane. This initiative has provided relief to thousands of residents.

Public Recognition for MLA Narendra Mehta

As a mark of appreciation, the delegation presented Mehta with three prestigious mementos:

  • “Janta Ki Awaaz Memento” – by Awaaz News Network
  • “The True Star Memento” – by Star Foundation
  • “Lok Shakti Memento” – by Lok Sahitya Welfare Trust

The delegation included Dr. Danish Lambe, Tausif Shaikh, Rafiq Shaikh, Yakub Pedikar, Shamim Shaikh, Muzammil Qureshi, and Adu Raam.

Demand for Land Maps Records and City Survey Maps Records Offices in Mira-Bhayandar

A key concern raised during the meeting was the absence of a Land Maps Records Office and a City Survey Maps Records Office in Mira-Bhayandar, which forces residents to travel to Thane for crucial land-related documents, including land map records, Gat-Book Maqasha, and city survey maps.

The delegation urged the establishment of two dedicated offices in Mira-Bhayandar:

  1. Land Maps Records Office – under the Revenue Department
  2. City Survey Maps Records Office – under the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC)

In response, Mr. Narendra Mehta assured that he would take up the matter with the District Collector and push for the swift establishment of these offices to ease the burden on local residents.

Concerns Over Delays in “RTE Verification Committee” Formation

The meeting also addressed irregularities in Right to Education (RTE) admissions, where several schools are allegedly misusing reserved seats meant for underprivileged children. Parents have reported being denied admissions despite being legally entitled under RTE guidelines. Additionally, many parents have also complained about the demand for extra money from the Education Department, which has further hindered the enrollment of economically weaker students. These unethical practices have caused significant distress among parents, raising concerns about the transparency and fairness of the RTE admission process.

Mehta assured the delegation that he would engage with the Education Department to ensure the prompt formation of an RTE Verification Committee to monitor and regulate school admissions, ensuring greater transparency and fairness.

Awareness Drive on Deemed Conveyance Proposed

A significant discussion point was the large-scale delay in redevelopment projects across Mira-Bhayandar, primarily due to builders withholding land ownership from housing societies.

Challenges Faced by Housing Societies:

  • Many societies lack official ownership of their land, despite having legal rights over the property.
  • Builders continue to retain control over land rights, creating legal hurdles in the redevelopment process.
  • Residents are hesitant to invest in deemed conveyance due to financial constraints and potential pushback from builders.

To tackle this, Star Foundation and other organizations proposed launching awareness campaigns to educate housing societies on the benefits of deemed conveyance and self-redevelopment.

Mehta agreed to work towards legal solutions that would empower housing societies to gain full ownership rights and expedite stalled redevelopment projects.

MLA Narendra Mehta’s Key Assurances:

At the conclusion of the meeting, Mehta pledged immediate action on the following issues:

Establishment of Land Maps Records and City Survey Maps Records Offices in Mira-Bhayandar – Discussions with the District Collector to ensure local access to essential documents.

Formation of an RTE Verification Committee – Collaboration with the Education Department to ensure fair and transparent school admissions for underprivileged children.

Legal and administrative support for deemed conveyance and stalled redevelopment projects – Encouraging housing societies to secure their land rights and facilitating smoother redevelopment procedures.

A Step Towards Better Civic Infrastructure in Mira-Bhayandar

The meeting marks a major step toward improving public infrastructure, educational transparency, and property rights in Mira-Bhayandar. If implemented effectively, these initiatives could significantly enhance the quality of life for thousands of residents, making property transactions and educational access more efficient and transparent.

Residents are now hopeful that Mehta’s assurances will translate into concrete actions, bringing long-overdue reforms to the region.
